Students were joined by alumni and former staff to recognise the significant impact of those who have contributed across decades, to make Newcastle Grammar School what it is today.

Founders’ Day 2025 was a celebration of community, connection and cherished memories reflecting the lifelong friendships formed over many years and the common bond that unites this treasured community.

Christ Church Cathedral provided the reverential backdrop for the Eucharist Service, with the ambience heightened by the sounds of the Secondary Orchestra and Senior Choir. We thank The Right Reverend Dr Peter Stuart, Bishop of Newcastle, and The Very Reverend Katherine Bowyer, Dean of Newcastle, for their continued support of the NGS community.

The Service was followed by the annual Founders’ Day Lunch for our older Grammarians where guests were welcomed by current student leaders and Head of School, Mr Matt Macoustra.

Guests enjoyed lively conversation as they shared memories of teachers, peers and classroom activities. It was a wonderful opportunity to pause and reflect upon Newcastle Grammar School’s remarkable history and celebrate the rich tapestry woven together by the threads of each individual who has played a part in the NGS story.
